Antigua, Caribbean
Valley Church

This all inclusive plantation-style complex is located in the village of Valley Church, on the west coast bay of the island of Antigua, just over a beautiful white sand beach of clear blue water, from where you can enjoy amazing sunsets. This retreat offers a spectacular tropical environment to relax and disconnect from the modern world. If guests wish to be in contact with civilization the capital town is not far away from the hotel. Public transport network, bars and restaurants are to be found in the local area.

The Best Anniversary Choice

We spent the week here for our 10 year anniversary and it could not have been more perfect. The environment was exactly what we were looking for. Incredibly relaxing!! The staff was incredible and super friendly! We picked this resort over the others due to the food reviews! I loved the rotating menu and plentiful options. And once the food arrived, it was hands down the best food I've experienced. The bartenders get to know you and have excellent recommendations. The pools are absolutely perfect! They dont get too hot so jumping in to cool off is just right. It's a very peaceful and quiet resort with light music playing by the pools and in the restaurant. The walks to the rooms is like an everyday nature walk! The ocean water is fairly calm so relaxing in the water on the sand is easy!! This is definitely the place to come to relax, unwind, and spend quality time!

Best time in Antigua!

We had the most wonderful time at Cocobay!! The views and property were just amazing!! Truly a place to just go relax and take some time away. The convenience of the pools near to the beach and all amenities in close proximity was an added bonus.
Huge shout out to the Front of House Ambassadors and the daily communications. Kept us in check and were a huge help!

A beautiful setting for a relaxing holiday.

Beautiful place. We had a relaxing 2 weeks here at the beginning of July. Welcome drink on arrival. Room is lovely, set in gardens, we had one with a plunge pool, which we really liked, quite private. Pretty birds come to your terrace. Good large comfortable bed with mosquito net ( which we didn't use - did not see or hear any mosquitos). Good overhead shower in bathroom, good toiletries: soap, body lotion, shower gel, shampoo and hair conditioner. There is a fridge in the room. Drinking water is provided. There is also a coffee machine and tea and coffee, but you can order a fresh coffee to be delivered to your room in the morning by scanning a QR code - a nice touch. Food: the meals were excellent, plenty of choice, 3 courses at lunchtime, 4 at dinner (we could only manage 3). Wine was very good, or you could order a cocktail. Very good breakfast with fruit, yoghurt, pastries, full cooked breakfast with choice of eggs, and a daily special, like pancakes or waffles. If you are still hungry(!) there are paninis at the beach bar, cakes and pastries and biscuits in the coffee shop, and in the afternoons there are cooked bar snacks. Once a week there is also an evening barbeque/buffet which was very good. There are also days when there is a choice of lunch in the restaurant or BBQ on the beach. Service is very good, pleasant attentive staff. There is no night life as such, but most evenings there is music in or around the restaurant, small band or singer. While it is an adults only hotel, occasionally small children would be wandering through the bar/restaurant area. Sheer Rocks restaurant is set just below the hotel restaurant and access is through the hotel, so there are families from other hotels or resorts walking though, a bit surprising. Sometimes stopping in the bar with their children. We never went to sheer rocks, food at the hotel was just so good we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. Snorkelling: it is very good for snorkelling from the beach. There is a reef between the buoy near the shore and one further out, in an arc. We saw rays, barracuda, large star fish, lobster, huge array of beautiful fish like parrot fish, squirrel fish, shoals of brightly coloured fish. One thing, though, although the hotel provides snorkels, they were quite hard to come by especially in our first week. Even first thing in the morning there were none available, but we later noticed other guests using the black hotel snorkels even though there had been none. It appears that some selfish people were taking them and keeping them overnight so they could have them throughout their stay, meaning there were none available for anyone else. There is no system for booking them out or returning them. So probably worth taking your own. The beach itself is lovely, clear calm sea. We never had any difficulty getting sunbeds, there are plenty, set in twos under wooden parasols. Beach towels are provided. The swimming pools also looked nice, but we preferred the beach. There is waiter service for drinks on the beach. We would definitely recommend and hope to return.

Amazing, peaceful, beautiful

We spent 12 nights at Cocobay for a big birthday in May.

Check in was smooth, and we were taken to our bungalow, Initially when I walked in , I was bit taken back by how rustic it was, considering the price point of staying here. Gaps in bathroom, and front door, but our bungalow was immaculately clean ,and was kept like that for our whole trip. Was obviously very tired after travelling, as after our first night in a very comfortable bed, woke up to see a humming bird literally just outside our balcony door, and just woke up with a smile on my face every day. Cocobay is on a penisular, quite remote, stunning views

The food was incredible here, i'm a coeliac, and there was so much choice for me, loved the off menu all inclusive. The setting of Cocobay is stunning, the grounds are kept immaculate, although the water they use to water garden is abit pongy!!

The bars, pools, in fact everywhere is kept lovely, yes there are a few boards that are getting rather weathered around the bar pool, but it all adds to the rustic, in nature feeling. There was abit of putting out towels on sunbeds, which always makes me abit sad that people do this, but if we couldnt get beds at one pool, you generally could at the other pool or on beach. Did lots of snorkelling, just off of the cabana thats in the sea, and saw lots of fish. The beach is a lovely small cove, quite abit of seagass, but if you walk to the end and go left you get to a bigger beach. With such clear water, softer sand and lovely to swim in

The biggest plus point of staying here are the staff, literally everyone is wonderful here, just too many people to mention but Sacha ,the Sharons, Derrick, honestly everyone is a huge credit to the resort.

We loved it, loved Antigua, had a day out with a driver which was fab, he took us around the island.to visit places of intetest I would actually would give Cocobay 4 and a half stars if I could, just holding back on that last half star as I think the bungalow we stayed in could do with abit of a freshen up, but would we return...Absolutely in a heartbeat.

Wonderful resort

We had a recent 7 day stay at this hotel booked through British Airways holidays. We arrived from the airport by taxi which was $42 and takes about 30 minutes. Check in was smooth. Nice welcome cocktail and a brief tour of the property and facilities. We were in 51 which was a garden view cottage. The accommodation is rustic. The room was a good size with a big comfortable bed. Pillows and bedding great quality. There was a mosquito net and the aircon worked ok. There was a safe, ironing board and fridge and coffee machine. The only negative was the furniture. Pretty makeshift and lacking drawers. The wardrobe is a curtained alcove. Not a big deal though. Big shower room and both bedroom and bathroom open onto a terrace which had adirondack chairs and a hammock.

The hotel itself and the grounds are quite beautiful with stunning sea views. Beautiful Caribbean architecture, lushly tropical landscape. 2 infinity pools. There are nice beaches both sides of the property. Plenty of sun beds and umbrellas and I didn’t see anyone saving them early with towels like in some resorts. There is a tiny gym which we didn’t get time to use. There are some kayaks and paddle boards free to use and also a hobie type small sailboat.

There is a nice cafe and gift shop on the premises which opened at 7 am. We eat all our meals in the main restaurant. You book meal times at breakfast and they also rotate where you sit which I thought worked well and is fair. The food is all à la carte and the menu changes daily over the week. Quality of the food was very good. With the exception of lamb one night every meal was excellent. We had one lunch on the beach barbecue and that was also great.

Nice bar area and the quality of all the drinks I had were excellent. We tried a different cocktail each evening. I enjoyed the local lager and wines at dinner were decent.

The staff at this hotel were wonderful. Everyone we came across were friendly and pleasant and professional. House keepers do a great job, everything was very clean. Gardeners also keep the grounds beautiful.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday. I’ve stayed at many resorts throughout the Caribbean but can honestly say this has been my favourite. I was celebrating a big birthday and coco bay made It special. I would certainly come back and definitely recommend.
