We hadn’t expected to stay in Antigua. A problem with a connecting flight left us ‘homeless’ and anxious. Through blind good luck we found ourselves landing at The Villas at Sunset Lane. We were dropped off at 8:30pm and the host/owner, Jackie, had almost no warning of our arrival - nonetheless she set about feeding us (2 families) and helping us to make arrangements for eventually getting back to the UK. The villas are fantastic in terms of location (5 min walk to beach), function (palatial and high-end), and cleanliness (spotless)…but all of that pales compared to the warmth, charm and helpfulness of Jackie. Thank you sooo much!
This was the first time visiting beautiful Antigua for my wife and I. We wanted to visit a small island that was safe, affordable, and unique. Our search for a place to stay landed on The Villas at Sunset Lane. We've grown tired of the sprawling, impersonal, all-inclusive resorts and made it our mission to find small, boutique inns that offer more personal, attentive service, comfortable and clean accommodations, and quality indigenous food. It is our belief that with a little work, you can piecemeal a vacation together (flight/accommodations/transfer) and come out even or even ahead of the all-inclusives. Well we found it in the 10 room Villas at Sunset Lane. Owner and Chef Jackie is a unique and special lady who made us feel welcome and comforted for our entire stay. Her meals were simply outstanding. She uses fresh local ingredients to prepare exceptional dishes that we thoroughly enjoyed. Our room was super clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and courteous, willing and able to satisfy our every need. The small property sits on a hill overlooking the ocean, facing west for fantastic sunsets. It's a mere 10 minute walk to the beach. We also enjoyed the on-site pool. We wouldn't hesitate to book again when we return. Thanks Jackie for a top notch stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Villas (8 nights). It is absolutely delightful. The views from the terrace are very memorable. Jackie, Desi-Ann and the entire staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and thoroughly welcome. Breakfast each morning was delicious...fresh fruit and toast came with the room, but for a very modest charge, a cooked breakfast can be added. We did that each day...sometimes eggs and bacon, sometimes pancakes. It was all delicious. Our room was very spacious and completely met our needs. Bring your passwords if you want to use the TV...it is primarily streaming service. Not sure why anyone would want TV in such a beautiful place. We ate dinner once with Jackie...it was a delicious Antiguan meal with chicken, rice and vegetables. I celebrated my birthday while there. Jackie baked me a delicious chocolate ganache cake! The pool is delightful and feels great after walking back from the beach. Dickenson Bay is about at 15 minute walk...downhill to the beach, uphill on the return. It would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. That is true about the hotel, too. Lots of steps...which were not a problem for us. Jackie arranged taxis for us. We recommend using taxis vice renting a car in Antigua. Driving is not for the faint of heart. So go, have fun, and enjoy some amazing Antiguan hospitality!
Absolutely fantastic experience. Jackie was a great host and couldn’t have been more accommodating. The room was spotless and her cooking was delicious. When I mentioned I had enjoyed her scones for breakfast, she had more sent to my room. The villas are a short walk to the lovely beach. I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful place. Thank you so much Jackie and staff.
My wife and I stayed at the Villas for 11 nights in December and it proved to be a wonderful holiday. Jackie the host couldn't do enough for us, arranging our car hire, taxis when we needed one, cooking our evening meal on arrival and providing a great breakfast every day. Our room was spotless and well equipped, with air conditioning, ceiling fan and a fridge. The beach is a 10 minute walk, and there are a couple of nice restaurants also within walking distance. We would happliy stay here again and would recommend it to other travellers seeking a small, boutique hotel on Antigua.
