Iberostar Founty Beach

All stains everywhere. Look at pictures! Very dirty . And also for a 4 star hotel should have kettle in room. I wiped most of the areas myself look at the pictures the wipe is filthy

Having stayed in Iberostar hotels before, we expected a better overall standard than we experienced here.

The hotel itself is looking quite dated in places and is in need of some investment. While our room was comfortable, with effective air conditioning, plenty of hot water and good housekeeping throughout the week, the rest of the hotel didn’t always reflect the same standard.

The biggest let-down was the pool area. On more than one morning there were used plasters and empty glasses still lying around from the previous day, which doesn’t give the impression that the area is being cleaned thoroughly overnight. Hygiene around a pool should be a priority.

The pools themselves were lovely—large, a good depth and, thankfully, not heated, making them perfect for cooling off in the Moroccan sunshine. However, there simply weren’t enough parasols, so unless you were prepared to reserve one early, you’d struggle to find any shade. The sun loungers were also packed into long rows with virtually no space between them. It felt crowded and lacked the relaxed atmosphere you’d expect from a beach resort.

The food was undoubtedly the hotel’s strongest point. There was a huge variety at every meal, with plenty of Moroccan dishes alongside international options. Everything was fresh, well-cooked and regularly replenished. The fresh fruit selection was excellent, and the desserts were some of the best we’ve had at an all-inclusive hotel.

Service, however, was inconsistent. Drinks around the pool had to be collected yourself from one of only two outlets, which could involve quite a walk depending on where you were sitting. There was also no table service for drinks in the restaurant, which made the dining experience feel a little impersonal.

The entertainment team deserve recognition—they worked incredibly hard throughout the day and evening, with activities and different shows every night. Their enthusiasm was one of the highlights of the holiday.

Overall, we still had a nice week away because Morocco is a wonderful destination and the weather was fantastic. However, this hotel didn’t quite live up to the Iberostar name. With better attention to cleanliness, a less cramped pool layout and some refurbishment, it could be much better. As it stands, we left feeling it was average rather than memorable, and unfortunately it’s not somewhere we’d choose to return.
