We came back last week from our 5 day stay at Medina Gardens. This was a second attempt at a honeymoon as our previous one went terribly due to the hotel noise and staffing issues. We are gutted we didn’t choose here first! We had such a fantastic time!! We decided to splurge when we got there and upgraded to a swim up room which worth every penny. The hotel and the grounds are just stunning. Yes the pool was impossible to get a bed however, we much preferred the gardens, they are so beautiful. One day I’d sunbathe under a fig tree, the next a lime tree, wonderful!! Then in the afternoon we’d go to our private terrace and pool, it was just perfect. It’s barely a 10 min walk to the souks, 20 min drive to the airport, so convenient and yet once within the grounds you wouldn’t know it, it’s so peaceful. The staff are brilliant, nothing is too much trouble and they never wait or expect tips, they are truly happy to help and enjoying their day, it makes such a difference! Big shout out to Fouad at the pool bar. We’d order drinks and he would insist on bringing them to us wherever we were, even if in the furthest garden he found us, he was fab! The guys in the bar, so cheerful and buzzing for the football, they made the atmosphere brilliant for us guests. We did the camel ride and evening meal in the Agafay Desert, meal was delicious and the whole thing was just a lovely experience. Camels very well looked after!!! Two things to raise (which I hate to!), the food is nice but not great and very samey but we did always find something to eat. Some more authentic tagines would be fantastic. The metal stairs for the swim up pool - the metal handles were literally ON FIRE by noon and impossible to use to get in and out. Some sort of rubber/plastic coating would benefit hugely and prevent any burn injuries. We will 100% be returning, hopefully with other family members, we miss it terribly already!!!
