Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
After the excitement of our first safari, there couldn't be a better place to unwind and soak in the beauty of the ocean and true hospitality . Truly unforgettable.
Have you ever just wanted to go somewhere where you didn't have to deal with anyone or anything for a few days? Did you just want to be able to sit back, relax, disconnect from the outside world and other people? Have you just wanted to have the opportunity to reconnect with yourself and see if you recognize you anymore? Well, this is the place for you!!!!
From the moment you walk through the gate of this property and you see the absolute pristine property in front of the backdrop of the Indian Ocean, you realize that the photos you saw online aren't photoshopped. You're sucked into beauty of the buildings, sand, and then you meet the people who are going to make this the best stay you've ever experienced.... anywhere.
The rooms are spotless, spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated to remind you where you are. The housekeeping staff are attentive and ensure you have everything you need. Don't worry about packing the shampoo and conditioner or hairdryer, it's already there.
The only thing I will caution you on is the hot water. It's REALLY hot; so make sure you test it before you get into the shower.
The reception staff are amazing and will greet you every morning with a smile and make sure you are happy if you need anything.
The restaurant is to die for. I went Half Board on the meal plan and I found it to be sufficient. The breakfast consists of a good selection of fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries, coffee and an a la carte menu to pick out your eggs or omelette. The chefs are amazing for breakfast but they'll knock your socks off with daily dinner specials or a delicious meal from their menu.
I've traveled to a lot of 4 or 5 star resorts and their food was good; BUT these chefs are consistently brilliant. I was there for 9 nights and I didn't have one bad anything food wise. They're simply awesome.
The servers are so attentive, because there's a very few people on the resort at any time. You get the best service from people who truly LOVE to make your experience the best it can be. It's the culture of the entire staff to ensure you're taken care of... consistently.
The groundskeepers and security staff ensure the picture perfect environment of the resort is maintained and that you feel safe and secure while you're there.
The Indian Ocean is beautiful and the water is clear and very swimmable. There's no need for swimming shoes, because the sand and ocean is beautiful.
Take the opportunity to ride the camels or watch the acrobatics of the beach boys. They're really talented and appreciate any tip you can give them when they do their show for you.
The Wi-Fi on the resort is excellent so you can stay as connected to the outside world as you want or need to.
The vendors on the beach will be ruthless in their pursuit to have you buy something from them, but that's their livelihood and they take it seriously. Be mindful and respectful to them and they are actually fun to talk with.
The management on the resort have done an amazing job at recruiting and more importantly retaining the staff that work with them. Some people have been there for a decade and I only found one person who had been there less than 5 years. That's a testament to management treating the staff with the same respect as the staff show the guests.
I really am so happy I found this resort and I would definitely return at some point. The big issue is the travel time from Alberta Canada to Diani Beach is a really long and somewhat expensive travel bill. Despite this, I am keeping this slice of paradise on my places to return to, at some point in time. If you haven't been there yet, once you get there you will see what I mean.
Thank you so much to the entire Waterlovers Beach Resort staff for making this a trip to remember.
The location is very convenient, the food is absolutely amazing as well as the service, and very welcoming atmosphere.
The location can’t be beat- it’s around the corner from the Diani airport and the shopping areas, but facing the ocean with its own turtle shaped infinity pool. Amazing!
There are only about 10 cabins so there are never crowds of people and everything feels intimate, from the services to being able to choose your favorite beach beds, to the staff knowing who you are.
The whole place screams “relaxing.” My husband and I visited after over a week on a safari trip and it was the perfect ending to our adventures.
Our family of nine spent 4 nights at Waterlovers after our safari. We took the train to Mombasa from Voi and the resort was an easy shuttle ride from the train station (about 65 USD for all of us).
From the moment we arrived, the service was lovely and we were welcomed. The resort is very small and quiet but not too small for our large group. The location felt very safe and secure.
We stayed in the penthouse and the giraffe suite. The accommodations were perfect and we were thrilled with our selection. The penthouse was spacious for our large group with ocean views and a nice balcony overlooking the ocean.
Our suites were tidied everyday with turn down service in the evening. Security set up our beach volleyball net and made sure that the beach boys did not harass us too much (they are persistent). The bartender Abdhallah was excellent, personable and kept us entertained during our vacation.
We selected the half board package with breakfast included and this was the right choice for us. We ate at Tides our first night there and the food was excellent, but we found the portions a little small for the young adults in our party and perhaps not the best value. We purchased beer, wine and some fresh seafood at the local grocery store (walking distance) and were able to cook a meal in the penthouse kitchen the following night. Pizza day at Waterlovers was delicious and good value. The staff sent us away with box lunches on the day of departure as well, which was appreciated.
The resort does not have a fitness center, so we took a tuk tuk (400 KES each way) and paid 500 KES pp for entry. It did the trick but the cardio equipment is a little dated.
The beach was very windy while we were there and we did not go snorkeling or use the kayaks for this reason, but they were available. There was plenty of comfortable beachfront loungers available during our stay and the resort provides beach baskets with towels as well.
We would highly recommend Waterlovers for a relaxing stay after safari or anytime!
