The Problem (Reservations, Noise & Security Risk): Before booking, my tour agency specifically called hotel reservations to ask if any weddings were scheduled during my dates. They were explicitly told "no." Upon arrival, I found out this was completely false. There were two separate weddings back-to-back during my stay. The resort became extremely crowded and chaotic, with loud music blasting past 11:00pm on the wedding nights, making sleep nearly impossible. To make matters worse, my initial room was located directly above the wedding reception setup. While my agency was messaging reservations, central reservations kept insisting I had been given a "very nice room" - a complete disconnect from the reality of being placed in the middle of event noise. I insisted my room be changed, though that naturally took time. I arrived at 11:30am and by 4pm I was finally settled into a new, quiet room. All thanks to the on-site management team. Coming from Whitesands Sarova, stepping into this chaos was a total shock to my relaxed system.
The Security & Service Breakdown (Reception Incident): Beyond the noise issues, the reception team was incredibly unhelpful and caused a severe security lapse. Having checked out early, I left my luggage waiting at reception while I went for breakfast and popped into a shop. All this time, my luggage remained untagged. When I returned, I was shocked to see a complete stranger wheeling my luggage out of the hotel. The receptionist had literally given him permission to take my bags without doing a single check to verify ownership! I ran after the stranger, who was completely mortified and embarrassed once I confronted him, explaining that the receptionist had explicitly told him to take those bags. Luckily, I caught him just in time to save my belongings - can you imagine what would have happened if I hadn’t walked back at that exact moment? It is beyond ridiculous and utterly unacceptable.
The Saving Grace (On-Site Team): What helped salvage the stay was the incredible local staff on the ground: • Management: The manager (Mercie) was wonderful—she stepped in immediately, understood my disappointment, and managed things very quickly. Mercie arranged to move me to a quiet room away from the noise, personally reserved a peaceful sunbed for me, and continued to look out for me throughout my stay. • Kitchen & Dining: Chef Edwin, Chef Musa, and Phylis were absolutely outstanding, ensuring all of my dietary requirements were catered to with great care. If you have strict diet requirements, you can trust this team to take care of you. The personal attention they gave me was amazing. • Service & Housekeeping: Baylon and Diana (and pretty much all the service staff) were exceptionally warm and attentive, and the housekeeping team kept the room spotless. Final Verdict: The manager Mercie, Chef Edwin, Chef Musa, Phylis, and the resort staff deserve 5 stars for their hospitality, quick recovery, and care. Be warned: I hear this place hosts at least 1 or 2 weddings nearly every week, so there is a high chance you will become an uninvited guest to someone’s wedding! However, due to the severe misrepresentation by central reservations, the shocking luggage security failure at reception, back-to-back wedding disruptions, and the initial chaotic feel of the place, the overall experience lands at 3 stars.
