It was a splendid experience.
Great location, but extremely disappointing stay.
The only good thing was the location next to the beach—but once you get to the beach, you won’t get a moment’s peace because of the constant solicitations.
This place is definitely not a five-star hotel, although it has vestiges of its past as one—perhaps from 40 or 50 years ago.
The rooms were grimy, and it seems they have not fixed the issues noted in past reviews; instead, they’ve tried to paint over them. There was visible rust on the appliances and signs of mold. Despite a real risk of malaria, there were no mosquito nets in the room either.
A lot of the resort appears to be under renovation, and there was quite noticeable construction noise, which affected our enjoyment. There were very limited options within the property: restaurants were closed, forcing us into buffet options that were underwhelming; the spa was closed and appears to have been closed for a long time. Areas you would reasonably expect to have access to were unavailable—for example, the conference room facilities and the adults-only pool.
I paid for an all-inclusive experience and was still shocked by charges upon my exit. My regret is that I did not take the negative reviews seriously and booked a non-refundable stay.
I went for a 5-star experience but I couldn’t wait to leave. Avoid it if you can. Spend a little more and get a true 5-star experience elsewhere.

An Excellent Time at Diani Reef Hotel
This was an excellent trip. We had a lot of fun. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I'd definitely come back here again.

We had wonderful time during our stay. Staff is very friendly and pleasent, especially Elizabeth from the front desk, who was very helpful and always with a smile! Rooms were clean and the food was good. Shame that there isn't a spa area available...
