Baron Palms Resort Sharm El Sheikh

We looked forward to our first visit to Egypt after reading the positive reviews. Although the hotel had attractive grounds and some enjoyable features, it did not meet the five-star standard advertised. The rooms felt dated, evening bar options were limited and entertainment generally finished by 9.00 pm. Our room was clean and serviced daily, but towels were missing on three occasions and the telephone did not work. The grounds were clean, but the pool area showed signs of wear and the jacuzzi was not working. We liked the double loungers, and the pool attendants were helpful with loungers and umbrellas. Poolside waiter service was slow. A refrigerator with bottled water near the towel station would improve access and reduce pressure on staff. Breakfast offered plenty of choice but was repetitive, and our first omelette was undercooked. At lunch and dinner, many buffet dishes appeared cold or overcooked. The pool restaurant provided a better alternative, with burgers and pizzas at lunch and a lovely dinner during our one permitted reservation. However, our chicken satay arrived without its sauce, which was brought around ten minutes later. The Gala Night appeared optional, but the main restaurant was closed and guests were directed to the event instead. Shared seating was disorganised, staff were unsure which places were available and drinks service was very limited. Advance notice would have allowed us to arrange to sit with friends. The beach was pleasant and offered food. We could use the neighbouring Baron Resort’s toilets, but not its other facilities, bar or entertainment. Entertainment at our hotel was limited, while the neighbouring hotel’s children’s disco in our auditorium was noisy for nearby rooms. Service was inconsistent, particularly around the pool and at the Gala Night. Several guests reported stomach illness. Although staff regularly requested feedback, there was little indication that concerns were being addressed. Overall, the beach, double loungers, helpful pool attendants and pool restaurant were highlights. However, the dated facilities, inconsistent service, limited entertainment and disappointing buffet meant the hotel did not meet our five-star expectations, and we would be unlikely to return.

We had a fantastic stay at Baron Palms and couldn’t fault the experience. The hotel, atmosphere and service made for a brilliant holiday, and the staff really went above and beyond to make our stay special.

A special mention to Ayman in the restaurant, who was brilliant and always made us feel welcome. Also, a massive thank you to the two pool guys, who were absolutely amazing! Their hard work, friendliness and attention to detail really made our days around the pool even better.

It’s the people who make a holiday memorable, and these guys are a real credit to the hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Baron Palms to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in Sharm El Sheikh. We would definitely return!
