TripAdvisor Review
A lovely holiday - fabulous food!

Family of four - two adults, 18 year old boy and 16 year old girl. We stayed main side. Here is our honest review…….

The resort is beautiful - really well maintained and everything you would expect.

Rooms - we had two premium rooms with sea views. The rooms were a little dated but very nice with everything you would need. Whilst we don’t spend much time in the room it is important that it’s a pleasant place to be. The location was great - close to the buffet, the food court and the beach. Buggy stop close for going to other parts of the resort. We felt they could have made a little more out of the ‘premium’ concept but the pool seemed to be the only real benefit (see below).

Pools - we didn’t use them all as some were more crowded than others. The big pool outside the reception building was nice and had lots of different areas, pretty easy to find beds and relatively peaceful. Block 18 (premium rooms) has its own pool which was lovely and quiet and we spent most of our time there. The lifeguards are great - they make up the beds for you and move umbrellas for those of us that need shade! Special shout out to Ahmed who was at the premium pool for our first few days (1st to the 4th) - he was lovely and often called the bar staff over for us!

Food - definitely a reason to choose this resort! The buffet breakfast was as you would expect - all the standard items cooked and presented nicely. Lunch in the buffet was also exactly as you would expect. We only ate in the buffet once in the evening and found it a little disappointing. From socials we expected something spectacular and it was just standard really - but as we only did it once we can’t have a solid opinion on variety, themes, etc. The food court was the same everyday but was our place of choice for ease. Pizza, burgers, noodles, etc - all very nice. Onto the à la cartes - where the food was fabulous in every single one!! My only criticism is how quickly they rattled through the meals - we much prefer to take our time. Taking them individually…

Brazilian - a total meat fest with some prawns thrown in! A great concept and all the food is amazing, but this was my least favourite. You had a small buffet style starter and were supposed to turn over a disc on your table to indicate you were ready for mains. We didn’t do this and yet a chef came to the table with our first round of meat anyway. From there we didn’t have time to breath - they just kept it coming when we hadn’t even finished the previous items. We found it totally overwhelming and it ruined the wonderful food for me. They also didn’t take no for an answer when we said we just wanted a small amount - just ignored us and piled it on. Do give it a try - just make it clear that you want to take it slowly - I wish we had been clearer about it. Shout out to Omar who greeted us and kept checking in - he was wonderful. He also welcomed us and cleared tables at the food court - always a smile and chatted with my son about football. Genuinely lovely young man. (Not to be confused with Omar the serving chef who just kept bringing food too quickly).

Chinese - they made recommendations and we ate absolutely everything - it was very yummy! Shout out to Binay who helped us decide and stopped for a chat - very nice chap!

Turkish - somewhat odd ambience but once again, everything we ate was lovely and service was great.

Salt Seafood - we chose to eat inside and that was probably an error because there wasn’t much atmosphere, but again the food was wonderful. They accommodated my daughter who isn’t a major fish person and adapted dishes for her. We really enjoyed the pasta!

Mykonos Greek - this was an extra charge and at £160 for the four of us it’s pretty lumpy. However, we all really enjoyed it. My son declared the meatballs to be the best he has ever eaten! We enjoyed the plate smashing and my son was given a cake for his birthday. My one criticism is that the singer was way too loud - we had to shout to chat to each other. She was good though!!

Peoples - the most understated but perhaps our favourite! It comes across more basic but the food was incredible. The Caesar salad starter was lovely - as were all of our mains. We also went for breakfast and it was brilliant - so many courses and all great!

Mangal BBQ - difficult for me to comment as I wasn’t feeling well so only nibbled, but my family all said the food was great (another meat fest). The concept is fun but the reality is that you are sitting next to a bbq and that’s not that fun in the heat!!!

So as you can tell - the food was a big highlight for us and I would consider it exceptional for a big hotel 👍🏻

Drinks - we definitely didn’t get branded spirits but that’s not important to us so it didn’t matter.

Entertainment - standard fair, acrobats, singers and dance shows. The quality varied but it was quite samey. The football was on while we were there so that livened things up on a couple of evenings.

Aquapark - we only went twice. Whilst easy enough to use the buggies, it’s still a bit of a schlep and our kids didn’t want to head over there on their own. We didn’t really like the feel over that side (felt it was more for families with young kids) but that’s our opinion.

Biggest negative - the other guests! I have never encountered such rude people in my life. Seeing the way they treated the staff was shocking - speaking down to them and expecting instant attention - it made me very uncomfortable. They also had no manners and would push in front of you in buggy queues and in the buffet. At one point we got off a buggy to make room for a family with a disabled child and other guests just piled on instead!

Overall view - great hotel, well maintained with excellent food and wonderful staff. Would we go back? No. Rude clientele being a factor, but something about the resort didn’t quite click for us. We have struggled to put our finger on it, but we have been to better places for the same money.

If you’re heading there soon, don’t be brought down by the bad reviews - you will have a fabulous time - especially if you’re a foodie!! X

Family Meal

good food and friendly service. The staff were attentive, the meal was enjoyable, and everything arrived promptly. A good place for a relaxed meal, and I’d happily eat here again.

Water phobia relief

Ahmed our lifeguard at the jetty took amazing care of us. My husband has a phobia of water and Ahmed took him in and guided him around the water - I've never seen him in the water that long! He had the best experience. Thank you Medhat Zaki for your amazing team. Ahmed created an amazing memory for my husband.

Relaxing and family atmosphere

The atmosphere was very relaxing and family oriented. The rooms very clean and well kept. My only critique is I wish there is a better way on sharing the entertainment programs, water, sport activity schedules, for example shown in the reception area, shuttle locations. And given the resort was located in Egypt, I was expecting more Egyptian entertainment included in the program rather than English and Russian.

Fantastic hotel with amazing staff

The hotel was truly amazing which is helped by even better staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble whether that was the buggy drivers, bar staff, entertainment team, waiters, towel attendants, cleaners! The staff really do make this a magnificent hotel.

There are plenty of pools to choose from which we never came across an issue of finding a sunbed regardless of the time of day we arrived. The lifeguards do a great job if anything they're over cautious. They don't allow the kids to jump/bomb in the pool but they still have fun. The pool parties at the entertainment pool on the main side were brilliant. I would suggest the pool games are inclusive of kids though, these were only ever for the adults which there didn't seem to be much uptake on. Also don't buy any inflatables, so many people leave the resort and leave theirs in the hotel room blocks that you can recycle others. Each day the towel attendants would have a sunbed ready and the bar staff would bring round non alcoholic cocktails to start the day, it was a nice touch. The lifeguards down at the jetty were fantastic and their knowledge of the fish was great.

The restaurants were also good. Plenty to choose from in the buffet restaurant however it can get a little repetitive. The booking system for the Al a Carte was a little tricky as the reservations go so quickly however guest relations will do their best to get you booked in. The food I had at Mangal was amazing. I'd also highly recommend Mykynos, it was some of the best Greek food I've ever tried. Also the Brazillian restaurant was perfection. We didn't manage to try any of the other al a cartes however I hear good things from other guests.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back to this hotel. It was an amazing weeks stay.
