Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Overall, our stay was average and quite disappointing compared to our previous visits.
The experience started at check-in, where we were told that there were no connecting rooms available for our two reservations, even though the hotel had only around 50 guests at the time. However, when I asked to speak with a manager and mentioned that we were considering moving to the Sheraton instead, several connecting rooms suddenly became available. This was very disappointing, especially since we are loyal guests who have stayed at this hotel many times.
What was even more concerning was a serious safety issue in one of our rooms. We discovered exposed electrical wires connected to a light fixture protruding from behind a mirror, at a height easily accessible to children. I only noticed them by chance. We were traveling with our two children, aged 4 and 1, and they could have touched the wires and been seriously injured or electrocuted. For a five-star hotel, this is an unacceptable and extremely serious safety hazard.
On our second-to-last day, the hotel carried out maintenance work directly on the beach from early morning until around 5:00 p.m. without interruption. There were drills, electric staplers, and constant construction noise all day long. I have videos to support this. When you pay premium rates for a five-star resort, you expect peace and relaxation. Guests come to the beach to enjoy the sound of the waves, the wind, and the tranquility—not hours of continuous construction noise. It was impossible to relax or even take a nap by the beach. While I understand that the hotel has no control over the noise coming from the construction of the new marina nearby, this beach work was entirely within the hotel's control and could easily have been scheduled after sunset or at a time that would have caused far less disturbance to guests.
Unfortunately, the quality of the food has declined significantly over the past two years. The dishes lacked flavor and proper seasoning, the selection was limited, and many of the choices were disappointing. Even the fresh orange juice was inconsistent. Guests who knew to ask received genuinely freshly squeezed juice, while others were served processed juice presented as fresh, which was disappointing and misleading.
Despite these issues, I would like to sincerely thank several members of the staff who made a real difference during our stay.
Tawakol, at the restaurant, was truly exceptional. He consistently went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible meals. He was always attentive, kind, helpful, and genuinely cared about our experience. His dedication and positive attitude are an example of the level of service a hotel like Kempinski should strive for. He was without question the highlight of our dining experience.
The restaurant chef also made an effort to prepare special dishes for us after hearing our feedback, and we appreciated that gesture. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, the food still did not reach the quality we remembered from two years ago.
Atta, on the beach, was also outstanding. Every day he did everything he could to make our stay enjoyable. His professionalism, kindness, and willingness to help never went unnoticed. He is a real asset to the hotel.
Waheed, at the restaurant, was equally wonderful. He was always warm, attentive, and incredibly helpful. He even gave small gifts to our child, which was a thoughtful gesture that we greatly appreciated.
Overall, the service provided by the beach and restaurant staff was excellent. They were professional, friendly, and genuinely cared about the guests.
It is a real shame because we have always loved staying at the Kempinski. The staff remain one of the hotel's greatest strengths, but the decline in food quality, the handling of our check-in, the unnecessary construction noise on the beach, and the serious safety issue in our room meant that this visit fell well below the five-star standards we have come to expect.
Really all the staff was friendly and amazing...gamal in the restaurant gemi in house keeping and Mahmoud sallam in the reception
I recently stayed at this wonderful hotel, and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel truly welcomed. A special thank‑you to [Marlin at reception , Hassan at the restaurant , Gaber room cleaning], whose kindness set the tone for my stay, and [Mohamed abd elrheem], who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. The rooms were spotless, the atmosphere relaxing, and the service exceptional. I genuinely appreciate the effort everyone put in to make my visit memorable. Highly recommended.
The Kempinski is an excellent hotel, quiet and peaceful with outstanding staff. My wife and I are repeat guests and are so fortunate to hove found such a wonderful hotel. The Laguna club is one of the best we have experienced and adds that personal touch to our holiday. A very big thank you must go to the superb manager, Fattah and his excellent team, Sameh, Daywood and Mostafa. Also a very big thanks must go to the chef, Hisham for the wonderful food and for being so very helpful and accommodating.
The pool areas at the hotel are spacious and spotlessly maintained by the pool team. The pool manager Samy is outstanding, very friendly and hands on and always ensures everything runs so very smoothly. Also a big thanks go to Awad and Sahel for helping our lazy days by the pool. Unlike many hotels, thankfully there is no music around the pools, which adds and is key to the peace and tranquillity of the hotel.
The rooms are immaculately maintained and the housekeeping team are excellent. A big thanks must go to Gabba and Mohamed for all they did for us and for keeping our room so perfectly
We can find no fault with this excellently maintained and managed hotel and would recommend it to all. My wife and I are very much looking forward to our stay at the Kempinski Soma Bay next year
This was our 9th stay at Kempinski Soma Bay hotel, and for the past 8 consecutive summers we haven’t missed a single vacation at Kempinski Soma Bay. It has truly become our family’s summer home, especially for our kids, who feel completely at home every time we return.
Everything is exceptional, but what makes this place truly special is the staff. Every member of the team welcomes us with genuine warmth and makes us feel like part of the Kempinski family. A special thank you to Chef Fathy and Chef Mahmoud for the outstanding cuisine and consistently exceptional dining experience. Our heartfelt thanks also go to Omar who greets us with a friendly smile everytime at the View. Bassem and his love to our kids, Mohamed Abdelsalam and Albert for their professionalism in handling all situations. and Sayed (by the beach). Samir who cooked for us amazing steaks and Mr. Sayed Abdel rasoul who always greet us with warm smiles and such genuine kindness. And to Sami and Atta at the pool and beach—your care, attentiveness, and hospitality are a big part of why we look forward to coming back year after year. Kempinski Soma Bay is, without a doubt, our favorite destination in Egypt. From the breathtaking Red Sea beach to the peaceful atmosphere and the incredible team, every detail makes our stay unforgettable. Thank you all for making every visit so memorable. Your dedication and passion never go unnoticed, and we can’t wait to be back again. We truly appreciate each and every one of you.
