Overall very good 👍🏻
Overall this is a great adults only hotel, which is nice and small so not too busy around the pool. The rooms are spacious and the staff attentive to your needs.
Couple of small issues around the food choice;

Pool lunch bar can be repetitive if staying for more than a week or returning within a couple of months. They really need a menu A and a menu B and switch between them. We stayed for 14 days and was sick of the pool food by the end of the stay.

Main special dishes in the main restaurant were always luke warm on a night. If you’re going to hot hold dishes when ensure they are HOT. The buffet food was always hot and salad selection was great as well.
Overall only two issues, so very good and I would return next year.

Amazing holiday as we were celebrating a 60th birthday also a 40th wedding anniversary. We have never been to hurgarda before. We will We definitely be returning to this hotel.
Just as good as the 1st visit
Once again another perfect stay at The Steingenberger Makadi. This time was our 2nd stay & we will definitely return. It’s a holiday where we definitely relax. The staff are all amazing, the food wonderful & nothing is too much trouble for anyone. You are not a guest, you are made to feel like family & we can’t wait to return to see our extended family. Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻 New Hotel Manager is lovely & is keen to know your thoughts on everything the hotel has to offer, all I would say is don’t change a thing, I love the adult only!! Thank you Mr Mahmoud & everyone who made our return visit so wonderful (you know who you are) from Mama chocolate 😉

Lovely relaxing week at a lovely hotel
We have just returned from a lovely relaxing week at this beautiful hotel,it is so clean and the staff are amazing,the food was one of the best we have had in a all inclusive hotel,the only thing that let it down was the drinks package,no branded drinks in the package and had to pay for the mini bar,would come back in a heartbeat if this was to change,apart from that we would recommend this hotel and hopefully be back next year,many thanks David and Deborah Vaughan
Paradise in the Desert – The Only Hotel I Already Miss
As someone who always chases new destinations and new hotels, I never repeat. Steigenberger Makadi is the first exception in my life — and after this stay, I already know I’m coming back.
With only 93 rooms, the atmosphere is intimate and sincere in a way large resorts simply can’t replicate. My sister and I even received a complimentary upgrade to a higher floor, just because we asked — a small gesture that set the tone for the whole stay.
The Location: Perched slightly elevated, it catches a natural breeze even on the hottest summer days — a small detail that makes a huge difference. Every hour, a shuttle takes you to the private beach in just 5 minutes, complete with its own restaurant and drink bar.
The Food: Simply phenomenal. The meat is incredibly tender, every dish beautifully seasoned, and the variety is endless — from the starters to the mains, the daily-changing BBQ, and the desserts (their knafeh is the best I’ve ever had, anywhere).
The Staff & Values: From check-in to check-out, this team is thoughtful, understanding, and genuinely caring in a way that’s rare to find. My sister and I felt safe and looked after from the very first moment — and yet there was always room for a joke or a laugh with the staff. It’s the perfect balance: professional, warm, and human. Special thanks to F&B team members Amr, Ahmed and Medi at the pool, and our housekeeper — your kindness made the stay. A huge shoutout to General Manager Mr. Refaat Hamed and the Executive Chef, who personally checked in on guests every day at the restaurant and pool to make sure everything was perfect.
The Evenings: Every night brought something new — live music with different singers (shoutout to Tarek & Helen, we danced all night to Egyptian classics), belly dancing, and a magician, Hassan, whose tricks left us speechless. For those wanting nightlife, the animation team even arranges a shuttle to the club.
The Overall Feeling: This is a place to truly rest, relax, and recharge — quiet and calming, yet full of warmth and life. Lush, green, immaculately kept — a true paradise in the middle of the desert.
If you dislike mass tourism and crave quality, sincerity, and a hotel that treats you like family rather than a room number — this is it.
