Outstanding resort in El Gouna
We had such an amazing stay at this hotel! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the beach is clean and easy to access. The pools are fantastic, especially if you just want to relax all day. We were really impressed by the quality of the food and drinks—everything was fresh and delicious. A special shoutout to Kirilos at the bar! He made the best cocktails of the whole trip and was always super friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend this place!
Lovely hotel
We had a really lovely stay at Ancient Sands Hotel and overall had a fantastic holiday. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with how beautiful and peaceful the resort is.
Our room was lovely — spacious, clean, comfortable and well looked after. There was plenty of room for us as a family, and it was always nice coming back to a clean and welcoming room after a day by the pool or exploring El Gouna.
The grounds are absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. There are lots of lovely areas to sit and relax, and the pools were clean and never felt overly crowded. The whole resort has a very relaxed atmosphere, which is perfect if you’re looking to switch off and enjoy a peaceful holiday.
The food deserves a special mention because we genuinely really enjoyed it. There was a good choice at mealtimes, everything was fresh and tasty, and there was enough variety that we always found something we liked. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and enjoyed our meals throughout our stay. There were also plenty of options, so even with a child we never struggled to find something to eat.
But what really made the holiday special was the staff. They were absolutely amazing from start to finish. Everyone was so friendly, polite, welcoming and helpful, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble. You could really see that they cared about making sure guests had a good experience. They definitely deserve a huge mention because their service was one of the highlights of our stay.
The only thing I would say is that, if you are travelling with younger children, there isn’t a huge amount for them to do within the resort. We travelled with our 11-year-old and, although he enjoyed the pools and the holiday overall, he did get a little bored at times as there aren’t many activities or entertainment options aimed at children his age. I think the hotel is much more suited to couples, adults or families looking for a relaxing and peaceful break rather than a resort full of activities for kids.
We also loved the location and enjoyed getting out and exploring El Gouna, which gave us plenty to do outside the hotel.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Ancient Sands. Beautiful rooms, stunning grounds, lovely pools, delicious food and genuinely amazing staff. Apart from the lack of activities for children, we really couldn’t fault our experience and would happily return for another relaxing holiday.

Beautiful steak friendly attentive staff
Beautiful al la carte meal at The Piazza Ancient Sands golf resort. Soup to start with a range of breads. Ceaser salad followed by steak and peppercorn sauce topped off with desert. Service is great. Staff are so attentive. Mohamoud the chef cooks a lovely steak!
